As aired on this week's Guild Meeting hosted by our own DJ Tasha, this is a downloadable version of the interview with Randy Price and Jeff Grubb that I did right in the middle of the Guild Wars 2 booth.
I played the demo that they had open as a level 50 Charr elementalist, and I have to say that it has a great combat flow. Casting felt natural, as did dodging around the NPC attacks and working with others on the map. Changing between attunements was simple and natural as well. I did it right on the normal map without needing to stop in a town or NPC to do so. The effect of changing attunments on my battlefield performance was obvious, with a clear difference between the massive damage of fire to the more support role of water. Both roles seemed to be very helpful, and I could see how they'd be beneficial in different circumstances depending on who was in a group or battlefield. The environment also looked gorgeous and very well done. This game has polish already kids, which seems to be few and far between in the MMO market these days.
If you get a chance to play Guild Wars 2 before release or in a beta, I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed. This game is well worth the wait.
We've all heard that “I Left My Heart In San Fransisco” song haven't we? Well I think I left my brain in Seattle.
I've just got back from PAX today and I'm very tired, very jetlagged and very fulfilled by the things I have seen.
There's far too much to mention here but this past weekend I managed to see Guild Wars 2, in full and glorious 3D, I've managed to play some of Star Wars TOR. And really this game could well be everything I've dreamed of, and if that wasn't enough I even got to look at Kinnect and many things that would make even the least geeky of geeks cream their trousers in sheer joy.
So, I guess you want to know the full lowdown. Well, that you'll get over my next few radio shows. But for now I shall tickle your tastebuds by telling you that it was a hugely entertaining adventure, which was more than worth the jetlag, the sleep deprivation and the fried brain at the end of it all.
Prepare for a slew of photos to show up on our brand new flickr page. You can find this at www.flickr.com/si-radio and as ever keep it tuned to SI Radio for giveaways, news and the full SP on what honoured every promise it made and every preconception I had of PAX 2010 being a more than awesome, trouser wetting experience.
