We all know what’s happening on September 17th this year, GTA V will be released. GTA V will destroy the competition and rewrite the rules. GTA V The world will love GTA V and there will be midnight queues at gaming stores all over the world. And GTA V will spawn many a copycat that tries to reach the dizzying heights of Rockstar’s perfection and not quite hit the mark.
Well, that’s what usually happens, but if rumours are to be believed then the big crime ‘em up fight might start a little early as Saint’s Row 4 will be set to hit the stores this coming August.
Deep Silver, publisher of the Voilition developed Saint’s Row franchise have what they term something huge planned for PAX East later this month. A tweet from Aubrey Morris this week read “Dear Media: You’re going to want to be at PAX East this year. If not, you’re going to be missing out on something HUGE. Just FYI!” Coupled with a tweet from Chris Stockman who was design director on the original Saint’s Row game that says “hey just to let you know word around the campfire is SR4 is shipping on current gen consoles in late August.” It’s safe to say this is at least looking rather likely.
Is the notion of releasing a new Saint’s Row before GTA insane, brave or both? I guess we’ll have to wait until PAX to find out.
