Because of recent publicity over Activision's Guitar Hero 5, some might say that Courtney Love is a very strange person indeed, some might say a lot worse, but in the interests of diplomacy I think I'll stick with strange. We all know the story by now, Courtney Love didn't like the fact her late husband Kurt Cobain can be used in the game to sing other people's songs, had the backing of other members of Nirvana, including Dave Grohl and then turned on him via Twitter messages with some very unpleasant threats made towards his posterior.
But it seems that the unthinkable has happened and that she has found herself an ally in her fight against the game. Yes, in a pun inducing move Jon Bon Jovi of all people has stepped up and not only given Love a good name (see what I did there?) but has backed her up by saying that he was also approached with the offer of being an avatar in the game and also announced that he declined the offer.
The floppy haired singer spoke to the BBC about it and said this about being an avatar in the game.
"I don't know that I would have wanted it either. To hear someone else's voice coming out of a cartoon version of me? I don't know. It sounds a little forced."
He also added that, “no-one even broached the subject with me that I would be singing other people's stuff. I don't know how I would have reacted to that. I don't know that I would have wanted it either."
For the editorial bit with my personal opinion check after the break.

So, for the first time ever I thought I'd actually use the front page news to showcase my Myspace Song of the Month.
This month the song is "Insane" by New York based rockabilly act, The Arkhams. Hailing from Queens, this act are influenced by the likes of The Ramones, The Cramps, Slayer and many many more from the punk, metal and rockabilly scene. They even term their own sound as "See above, then have it scratched by a Bobcat, Stabbed by a Knife, Touched by a Dirtbag, & stuffed with Beernuts."
The song, "Insane" is also featured on Bethesda's upcoming game, Wet (due out this week) and more than sets the scene for the Tarantino/Grindhouse inspired shooter.
The Arkhams debut album, Road to Arkham is available through Raucus Records in the UK and Bavarian label Drunkabilly Records in the US and can be purchased on Amazon and they have a 2nd album on the way.
Check them out on their Myspace page here and if you add them don't forget to say who sent you.

At a Los Angeles press conference, Infinity Ward announced that in commemoration of the game's release Microsoft will be releasing a brand new model of its console based on the game. It will be black and featuring decals based on the game itself. It will come shipped with a copy of the game, two wireless controllers and that much talked about 250GB HDD. Priced at $399 and now available for preorder, it will be released on the game's launch date, November 10th. There are no announcements yet for prices in European and Japanese territories, but I'm sure they'll be announced soon. For those of you who are just interested in the new HDD, Microsoft have no plans to release it on it's own, which is probably just was well considering the high price point of the 120GB version anyway.
And for those of you who are crying out “Pics or it didn't happen!” they're after the break.

For the following piece of news, I urge anyone who knows someone who works for Harmonix or Activision to staple them to a chair, hold their eyes open just like that scene in A Clockwork Orange, and force them to read this again and again and again until they agree to make this game.
Now, recently in an interview with the BBC, seminal UK rock band Pink Floyd said that they'd definitely consider being involved in a Rock Band/Guitar Hero game based on their work.
This is quite the turnaround lately as a few of the older generation of rock musicians, namely Jimmy Page and Bill Wyman aren't exactly overwhelmed with these type of games and have already voiced their concerns over them. But in saying that the recent Beatles game and not so recent Aerosmith game may be just the thing to change those opinions.
In the interview, Floyd drummer Nick Mason said that "I think we'd consider it. I think everyone's looking at new ways of selling the music because the business of selling records has almost disappeared." He went on to say "I'm of the old guard who are really sad about that, because I always liked the concept of the album - rather than just cherry-picking tracks - and also the business of the art work that went with it."
Imagine it though, Pink Floyd have always been an innovative showcase of music and stage and a game like this based on them in theory would be very special indeed. Imagine an interactive Pompeii, or playing along to The Wall and earning achievements or.....you get the picture, so remember kids, if you do know that Harmonix or Activision guy don't forget that stapler next time you visit them, the world needs this game.

It's probably safe to say that anyone who has played Batman Arkham Asylum probably fell in love with it the instant they started to play the game. It has been met with critical acclaim all over the press, everyone I know who has played it loves it, and everybody who is nearing the end of the game is most likely doing so with a sad little sniffle because there will be no more. Well, those of you in that situation can rejoice as there will be not one as I reported last week but two multi format DLC packs released for the game. Eidos have released a smattering of details of the DLC's which will be coming out over the next two weeks. First up, this week sees “Insane Night” released, followed on the 24th by “Prey in the Darkness.”
These are brand new DLC packs and not re-releases of the pre-order DLC packs “Dem Bones" and “Crime Alley.”
