Now, we try to give credit where credit is due and most definitely credit is owed to Shigeru Miyamoto, regarded by many as the father of gaming, but at what point do you have to ask if your father has gone senile?
In a recent interview Miyamoto has stated that digital distribution is not the future of games. Uhmmm...we beg to differ Mr.Miyamoto, I think Valve and Microsoft would as well. Miyamoto states:
"The hope for business departments always is how they can reduce costs. So if you look at digital distribution with the fact that you don't need money for packaging and things like that, it's great."
More words of wisdom about digital distribution after the break.
No, you read that correctly. Rapper T.I., who is currently serving one year in prison, is slated to appear in a new hip-hop based MMORPG. Apparently the gameplay will be based around creating a character that is a DJ, rapper, singer, etc. You can do things such as invent and star in your own clothing line or rise to the top of the Rap Game to earn cash and fame.
The game is tenatively entitled "Platinum Life" and Grand Hustle records have already signed for the deal. As a player you can go from being being relatively unknown to the top of the charts all while forming business and being guided by other musicians such a T.I.
Anthony Castoro, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Heatwave Interactive stated:
“Our online game experience allows top-level artists to share their music, video and lifestyle with their huge fan bases in a personal and innovative way. We feel that T.I.’s music, message and deeply engaged fan base make him ideal as an icon within the game.”
There is no release date announced at this point in time.

It looks like the Assassins Creed 2 official twitter has thrown up an image of their collector's Edition. It will include an art book, two additional game maps (multiplayer?), and a pretty bad ass 8.5" figure of the main character Ezio.
The price is set at $79.99 (via Gamstop's website) and is set to ship for pre-orders on 11/17/2009. This is the Gamestop exclusive for both US and Canada. Quantities are limited so if you want one it's best to act fast.
Yesterday we reported on a story about how you could use your 360 avatar for rocking out in Guitar Hero 5. Now it seems that Activision is reporting that you can ALSO use the Mii's for the Nintendo Wii! You will be able to rock out with all your favorite bobble headed characters. This will of course be similiar to the ability to use you Mii's in the freestyle mode of Guitar Hero World Tour for the Wii.
There are no plans set to have the Home Avatars in the PS3 version. Once again Sony gets the short end of the stick. Least you still got BluRay, right?

Ok.....now that's out of the way, video footage of a new Mario game has been unleashed on the world via the medium of Youtube. Lovely Youtube!
Yes, Nintendo have let the world see the New Super Mario Brothers in action, and hold onto your hats kids because the exciting news is, especially for those who grew up playing NES and SNES the new Super Mario Brothers game is going back to it's roots, kicking it old school and is the classic kind of 2D side-scrolling Mario action we all know and love from that golden era of gaming.
It's coming out on the Wii in that somewhat ambiguous "later this year" slot and not only features the good old Mario gaming we all know and love but also added multiplayer modes allowing for 4 people to play together. At this time I don't know whether or not this is an online option but am currently salivating at the thought.
Check it out....
And in case I didn't make it clear earlier...
