Ugh..

How lazy are we that now instead of playing video games, we have to have a game play itself. Starting with the new upcoming Super Mario Brothers Wii, future Nintendo games will ship with the ability to play themselves. If a part of the game is to hard for you NO WORRIES! Just put it on "demo play" and it will PLAY ITSELF....

Miyamato says it is to reduce the barrier for younger and casual players. But still..I thought the idea of a game was having to spend a week at the same boss fight until you finally beat him and ACHIEVE something. Instead of sitting on your couch and watching a $60 game play itself.

Stupid piece of crap? I think yes

What the junk? So, with the release of Wii MotionPlus, Nintendo has decided to give Wii players a how-to video on how to use the Motion Plus. Except I'm pretty sure they think we are as slow as turtles stuck in molasses. The video lasts 3 minutes and once you begin, there is no going out. You can't use the WiiMote to skip or go to home you have to -suffer- through the entire video that was built for a 2 year old.

In what could be seen as troublesome times for the Playstation brand with previous exclusives jumping ship and finding new ground on the XBOX 360. Sony were dalt another blow when the world's largest producer of video games, Activision Blizzard stomped down hard with their iron boot and made quite possibly the mother of all threats, no they're not threatening to send an army of cloned SJP's out to take over the world, but they are publicly threatening to abandon Sony's PS3 and PSP platforms.

The shock threat came From Activision Blizzard President and CEO Bobby Kotick when he said:

“I'm getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don't make it easy for me to support the platform. It's expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation...When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support [PS3 and PSP].”

It's no secret that Kotick would like to see a price cut in Sony's licensing fees especially after a half billion dollar payment for royalties and “other goods” last year. Also a PS3 price cut wouldn't go amiss either (but that one is speculated to be happening just in time for the new Madden game on August 18th).

As Activision Blizzard are the conglomerate makers of such games as Call of Duty, Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk as well as the likes of many Marvel, Dreamworks  and Star Wars titles this could potentially spell disaster for Sony.

There is little I can say here really, I mean it's just so beautiful I should let the video do the talking.

But Kotaku have this little gem available on their website. Well, I say little, by little I mean hugely epic and very very sexy. It's 17 minutes of footage from Blizzard's upcoming Starcraft II showing what the Zerg vs Protoss looks like.

Check it out here and don't forget a change of pants.

The Wii finally has a good use...

Wiiiiii

A medical facility in Arizona has started using the Wii to warm up their surgeons and test them to see if using the Wii before a surgery helps at all. Eight trainees were asked to play the Wii for an hour before performing virtual surgery with a tool that stimulates a patient's body while tracking the surgeon's movements as they operate. The surgeons who played the Wii scored 48% better then the others. They worked faster and with better accuracy.

The hospital's experiment shows that the Wii could be a valuable tool in hospitals and even medical schools. It would be pretty awesome if coupled with Medical School Tuition came a free Wii.
