All They Want to Do is Eat Your Brain

We’re not unreasonable; I mean, no one’s gonna eat your eyes

With the Left 4 Dead Survivor Pack DLC releasing next Tuesday I figured it would all benefit us to go over what exactly has been added and fixed with the new update from Valve.

More cannabalizing news after the break.

Valve is releasing the long awaited Left 4 Dead Survivor Pack DLC for both XBOX 360 and PC next Tuesday April 21st. This DLC will include the brand spankin' new Survivor Mode, which will surely help you gain that Zombie Genocidest achievement accomplished by killing 53,595 Infected (the population of the town and one more than the Dead Rising zombie killing achievement)a little bit quicker.

On top of that Valve is also allowing us the pleasure of playing in the Dead Air and Death Toll maps for Versus Mode! Can this get any cooler? Oh yes. It's about to get ICE COLD. How much is this going to cost me you ask? About Free Nintey Nine. That's right folks the DLC is going for zip/zero because in this economy we know you've gotta be stingy with Deniro, and I'm not talking about Bob.

In the new Survivor mode all four survivors will hang out in a small, closed area while hordes of zombies pile through in attempts to well...eat your face off. Oh and did I mention that there are no limits on the amount of Special Infected that might show up? Yeh. Suck on that.

Oh yeh, you can't actually SURVIVE through survivor mode. The infected don't stop charging their way through until the last of the four survivors has "expired" and by "expired" what I really mean is "dies in a terrible storm of their limbs being torn off of thier body and strewn over the floor of said enclosure to be knawed upon by the undead masses". Basically, the mode is a quick run for people who want to play together but might not have the "Umpf" to play through a whole campaign or perhaps to bring in new players without having to play on Easy. A typical round of Survivor Mode is estimated no more than 10 minutes a round.

Dead Air and Death Toll will of course will now be playable in the Versus mode (Woot!) as they have now been tweaked to Valves standards and have been judges as an equal playing field for both Infected and Survivor alike. On top of that I have a little bit of bat news for those who like to "swing for the fences" when those zombie-headed baseball like hordes try and run you down and that is the fact Valve is apparently limiting melee swings. I wish I could give you more information on what they meant by that but the old Google-Fu has left me empty handed so I guess we'll have to wait until Tuesday.

We should also see an SDK from Valve in the coming months which has been a rage all over the modding community. If you havent checked out any of the Fan Made maps just know that you can get a good graps on them over at http://www.l4dmods.com/ or by googling L4D Mods.

Happy Zombie Hunting
