Bethesda and Interplay Fallout.

Brought to you by your friendly nieghborhood robot overlords

Ok lets cut straight to the chase folks. Those crazy guys over at Kotaku are reporting that Bethesda is a little less than happy with Interplay at the moment and as per a 10-K financial report filed early this week might cause Interplay to lose the rights to develop the long awaited Fallout MMO.

More After the Break

Right now the action of an "official filed complaint" has not been stated but is more of just a vault teetering over the head of Interplay waiting to be dropped by Bethesda. They have made complaints about Interplay claiming there has been lack of progress on the development and also lack of proper funding being acquired.

Bethesda has alledged that, as part of the buyout rights deal, Interplay was to have commenced complete work on the MMO by April 4th 2009. If you havent seen a calendar yet this week it happens to be the 17th which is well past the 4th I'm now being told.

With all of these possible problems and the past history linked to Interplay's prior development delays Bethesda is apparently considering the idea of ending the trademark license agreement held with Interplay. If Bethesda was to do this that means we might get to see a giant developer brawl on who claims the holding for the coveted MMO follow up of last years Game of the Year.

My only hope is that each developer picks their strongest marketing manager and that Bethesda pits them at each other in a game of death ala The Running Man.
