Damned is bringing the Spooky back

Damned

Damned - a "competitive co-op" survival horror title - was recently given the Greenlight on Steam for indie developer 9heads Studios.  Find out what its all about past the cut.

In Damned, you play as either one of four human survivors trapped in an abandoned, haunted hotel looking for the way out, or as a mysterious monster that stalks them. That's right, its 4v1, and its a toss-up who's more outclassed; the humans, who can't affect the monster (other than to run shrieking) or the monster (who will spend most of his time being a spooky ghost-thing).

Before you turn away, allow me to explain:

Survivors will be able to interact with the world - drawers, doors, safes, cabinets, and wardrobes can be opened/closed, and can contain goodies that will help you escape.  Each of the humans will have an objective to accomplish if they wish to escape with their lives, and each play-through, items and objectives will be randomized for the players; for instance, one game you'll have to go down to the basement to turn on a generator, while in the next you might have to go to the roof to restart the elevators, etc.  You'll have your trusty flashlight to guide you through the dark, but be warned!  The monster can see the flashlight too when he's manifested, and use it to track you.

As the monster, you start out in your ethereal form, which lets you float through doors and barriers, and trigger haunting events like self-playing pianos, random noises, locking doors and so forth, but you can't perceive the survivors.  Each haunting nets you some power, which can then be used to manifest yourself physically.  While manifested, you can see the survivors, utilize your supernatural powers, hear their footsteps and track them by the doors/draws they leave open in their wake of scavanging for goodies.  But don't dally in your hunt for blood, as you will chew through your power while physical; get your bloodlust on or you'll lapse back into ethereal form with nothing to show for it.

Interested now?  Then consider heading over to the Greenlight page and read up on it on steam, or even the 9heads Studio Indiegogo page and consider dropping some bones to help support the title.
