The world of Eve Online was caught in "shock and awe" today as one of the biggest, oldest, and most famous alliances in the game has been disbanded after seemingly falling victim to espionage.

Goonswarm raised to take credit for it, claiming that it was a legitimate, within CCP's TOS attempt which struck what seems to be possibly the most massive blow against an alliance in Eve Online's history to date

Adding insult to injury, a corporation was immediately formed after BoB was disbanded with the very same name, preventing an alliance under the BoB name and ticker to be reformed.

Reps from ex BoB claim that the issue has not been a matter of neglecting to pay the alliance bill, or espionage, but rather of a hacked account. Investigations are being made, and petitions have been filed, but no matter the outcome, the result remains the same:

A colossal alliance occupying a very large space of the eve universe, with loads of assets, isk and protected territory, was obliterated with the flick of a switch.
