Today’s culture is littered with homage’s to ye olde times, with TV shows like Game of Thrones proving ever popular to the would-be fantasy enthusiast. No surprise then that some crazy fools have gone ahead and made a ‘Guillotine Simulator’ game for the recent crowd-funded peripheral gaming device – The Oculus Rift.
The obscure head-removal simulator – Aptly named ‘Disunion’ - was developed during the Exile Game Jam in Denmark. It puts the player in into the 3d reality hardware and subjects them to the viewpoint of a soon to be executed person. The user will be able to freely look around the environment using the hardware, getting the best possible viewpoint to see that mighty blade come crushing down on their helpless heads.
This is an incredible foot in the door for what might end up being the next stage of gaming’s evolution folks, and some day we may look back on this rather morbid experience and say “Hey, that beheading sim got us where we are now” as you mount your cyber dragon through the land of Tron.
