Looks like we've finally got some more news for all you FPS hungry fraghounds out there. EA has confirmd that Battlefield 3 is chugging along in its development stages. Now there have been many rumors about the subject and the announcement was not "business as usual".
Apparently EA COO John Pleasants revealed that he had persoanlly seen the game at DICE stating "I’ve had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product." It was also revealed that the game would not ship "this fiscal year," so we can probably expect a release date around mid to late 2010 which would be 5 years after Battlefield 2 was released.

In other sequel busting news Producer Vincent Pontbraind has indeed confirmed that the team behind Assassin's Creed has begun work on their third (and final?) game in the series.
Currently the team is working on finding a proper time period to set the game in and Pontbraind was quoted saying, "The key thing is that it has to be a pivotal moment in history, it has to be something that changes something and humanity in the world." and that "It can't be before the original Assassin's Creed, but it could be between the original and Assassin's 2."
The good news for those game worriers out there (I.E. - L4D Boycott Folks) there is also going to be DLC for Assassin's Creed 2 but there is a tight lid on that information barrel with Pontbraind saying, "There are plans for DLC, but I am not allowed to talk about it, but it's something that creates longevity."
We've also heard from a little birdy that there might be mulitplayer modes but no one is sure how they would work or what they would entail and how that would effect the main game or storyline.
