Over the years we've seen many a gaming hybrid, they've included driving and shooting, football and orcs, Terminator Salvation and total despair and now a new one. I never thought I would see, say or even dream of this happening, but someone has...and it could quite literally be the most epic and exciting example of homebrew game design since, well, ever really. So, we've all seen the videos of Mario with a portal gun and probably thought to ourselves how awesome it would be right? OK, maybe that was just me, but still the whole idea of a real Mario game with a portal gun is something that just cries awesome, and I can announce that it is happening and that it will be appearing on Mac, PC and Linux formats, or at least will be if Nintendo doesn't have a tantrum and take it's ball and go home.
Two man team "Stab Yourself" who have worked on many interesting and fun projects have been playing with the mustachioed Italian plumber and are now demonstrating a fully working video of MariO (and no, that isn't a typo).
Stab Youself are also saying that the game will support the entire original Super Mario Bros, including The Lost Levels and will even support downloadable map packs, a level editor and if that wasn't enough, MariO will take it's cues from Portal 2 and feature two player co-operative gameplay.
