Minecraft 1.8.2 Coming To XBOX

Minecraft on XBLA is soon to be getting it's next big update in the 1.8.2 patch and the patch will bring the game closer to it's big brother over on the PC. The XBLA version not only adds the hunger mechanic to gameplay as well as creative mode, new food and new mobs. There will also be villages and abandoned mines to play with and explore, and if that wasn't enough plans after the update may well see the XBLA version containing mods, but intriguingly they'll be done differently to the PC version.

Paddy Burns, the chief technology officer over at 4J Studios said that "This isn't something that will be coming with 1.8.2, but will be further down the line” and went on to say that "The Xbox 360 won't be able to have the mod system that gives such a variety of community additions to the game on PC, but we're looking at the elements of these that people seem to be enjoying the most, and deciding how we could tailor those elements into something for Xbox."

He also added that “Xbox 360 players are based in a living room, using a controller, and this fundamentally alters the way they interact with the game.We need to ensure that whatever we do is right for that audience." and that “Minecraft XBLA may diverge from its PC parentage in big ways in the future. We're going to be discussing with Mojang where we go after version 1.2.3," There was also an interesting comment made in that "Some ideas of taking the game in a different direction from PC having been raised already."

So, expect big things from Minecraft on your XBOX, there's no solid release date as of yet with a very tentative “it's weeks away” window, but for all you Minecrafters out there this could prove to be very exciting indeed.
