Mobile Monday - Shakes and Fidget

Today we'll be talking about Shakes and Fidget the free to play (freemium) RPG flash/mobile game that is absolutely sweeping "the facebooks" and that there interwebz you kids like so much.

More after the break.

Now, usually on mobile mondays we discuss a game that is SPECIFIC to just mobile devices. But this week I said, "Pfft screw that noise this game is awesome!" because it is awesome and it has a mobile app so suck it. My column, my rules. If you're not familiar with Shakes & Fidget, it's an RPG where you can be a warrior, mage, or scout (all with their own improvement stats) and choose from eight different races, because we don't all want to look the same, now do we?

From here you roll your character and jump into the world. It's a pretty simple and straight forward game. You go to the tavern pick one of three quests and wait. That's right, it's a game you can play while you're playing other games. You start off the day with 100 minutes to spend adventuring. Each mission is in lengths from 4 to 16 minutes. Once you're done with the adventure you will begin a fight with your intended target and depending on your win or loss you will be awarded with XP, gold, and/or weapons and armor.

The game is highly addictive even as simple as it sounds. As you gain XP and level up your stats will see a slight boost but the main way in the game to level up or power up your character is by spending the gold you earn to buy points in your different attributes. Sounds pretty easy right? Welp, it gets expensive quickly. The nice thing is that the money you earn increases at an exactly perfect rate as the price of the attributes goes up. Convienent isn't it? I thought so.

On the plus side, when you aren't adventuring or you're out of stamina or "Adventuring time" you can set your character to guard duty which allows you to make money while you're away from your computer or mobile device. Don't worry about forgetting, it will send you alerts when your guard time is up or adventures or done, it's pretty automated which is a plus in my world.

I took a whole bunch of screenshots to show you guys what the game looks like but then I deleted all of them because this is one of those games that can't be acurately described in screenshots. Take the time out of your day, download the mobile app or go to the website and just sign up for an account. They don't sell your information and they wont send you a ton of crap. It's fun and it makes your day go by a little bit faster. If you don't believe me, don't trust me, whatever then go do it anyways and you can send me a crap ton of hatemail through redjeans@siradio.fm
