They say that strange things happen at sea, but something even stranger has happened on the good old internet in the form of Sony being filled with the milk of human kindness. Yes in the most positive outcome of hacking since Matthew Broderick decided to play Global Thermonuclear War one dreary afternoon Sony have a package available to make even the most disheartened of their customers raise a smile.
It seems that after the dark cold times of Sony being unable to provide their online services they finally have things up and running again and have something to appease the disgruntled masses, and it really is quite the doozy of a package.
Not content with offering free game time to those who lost out on their DC Universe Online subscriptions Sony have also have a huge offer for PS3 and PSP owners that really is too good to be sniffed at.
By now, if you are a PS3 owner you’ll have received an E-mail about this offer, but if you haven’t received it yet hold on to your hats because this is what you are about to get.
Dubbed the “Welcome Back Program” those nice people at Sony have offered a customer appreciation package that not only contains 100 free items for PlayStation Home, there will also be free additional content released soon, which includes more items for the Home Mansion personal space, and exclusive game Ooblag’s Alien Casino.
If that wasn’t enough there will be 30 days free membership to Playstation Plus. This is an offer for people without the Plus account. Existing subscribers to the service will get 60 days. On top of that Music Unlimited subscribers will get not only free time equaling that of the outage, but a further 30 days free content, where new subscribers to the music service are offered a free 30 days, and in more free media, this weekend rentals of Ghostbusters, Final Fantasy Spirits Within and Bad Boys will be completely free.
If you thought this was good, wait! There’s more! Don’t go away to your PS3 just yet because there are free games too.
PS3 owners get a choice of two out of five games, these include Little Big Planet, Wipeout HD Bundle, Dead Nation, Super Stardust HD and Infamous, and again, just in case you didn’t believe me the first time they’re free. And if that wasn’t enough PSP owners will get a choice of two games again, this time out of Killzone Liberation, Little Big Planet PSP, Mod Nation Racers PSP and Pursuit Force.
Full details are in an E-mail sent out by Sony to console owners, so rejoice! Not only is your console back in action as it should be, but they’re giving you free stuff too.
Now, who said hacking never had a positive outcome?
