Square Enix: Makin Friends
We will never know the touch of a woman....and one of us is female.

Looks like Square Enix is going crazy with their legal team once again. Following on the heels of last years attack on a couple eBay and Amazon stores who sold replica weapons from the Final Fantasy series it looks like ole Square is now ordering a fan made "sequel" for Chrono Trigger to be canceled and have all work destroyed.

More After The Break

Apparently Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes is a original sequel to Chrono Trigger. The game was made, written, and developed by a group of fans using the Chrono Trigger sprites. It was literally at 98% completion when Square Enix sweeps in to "save the day" by presenting the team of game making fans with a legal bitch slap. The letter shown here demands the project to be halted and all known copies be destroyed.

But Square Enix didn't stop there, ohhh no not by far. They also had their devious legal team send out letters to other fan based websites and projects as well. One of these such letters was recieved by Chrono Compendium which then took down all content related to ROM-hacks.

Chrono Compendium's ZeaLitY was quoted as having stated
"We do not accept the validity of Square Enix's claims," and "nor the legal rationale underpinning their position. Nonetheless, we are complying with their demands so as to avoid the expenses and burdens of litigation, because, frankly, they can afford a frivolous lawsuit more than we can."

Video of some footage of the now deceased game can be found here

Oh yeh? I've got a letter of our own for you Squeenix. It says with the new re-release of Advent Children coming to DVD at quite the high price, around 40 bucks USD, and with the release of Final Fantasy 13 right around the 4th Quarter of this year perhaps it's not in your best interests to go pissing off a big chunk of your fan base?

I'm just puttin' it out there.
