Update 3 - The Tower Preview
As the teams at NetDevil and NCSoft gear up to roll out Update 3 in mid-November, we're please to bring you a brief preview about The Tower, one of the new features which will be a part of Update 3, with info about the news boss and the instance... One of the new instances found in Update 3 is a high-level series of missions called “The Tower,” which is available from the NPC De La Hoya in Ground Zero after the Top Driver Trophy is acquired. It features a powerful boss, The Tower, as well as a series of new weapons and equipment for those fortunate enough to beat him.

The Tower worked his way up in the Justice organization the old-fashioned way – killing anyone who got in his way. He made many enemies in the process, one in particular who is interested in taking him down. Defeating the Tower won’t be easy, as he’s now hidden himself away in a remote and heavily-guarded fortress. The Tower knows that he isn’t well liked, so he’s become quite paranoid. However, there is a particular way in to his fortress for the players that are interested…

Speaking frankly, The Tower will be no walk in the park. Players will need to organize a high-level convoy to take him on. He’s that tough. First, players will need to get a particular access card to get into the new map, then blast their way through a particular assortment of Justice vehicles, such as Zealots, Viles, plus all sorts of gunships and Extremists. Battling past them, players will next have to fight Tower’s right-hand, known simply as The Hanged Man. Just taking on this particular “mini-boss” may batter players senseless. Then there is The Tower himself.

Players can only obtain Tower’s items by defeating The Tower inside his fortress. The Tower may be cruel and paranoid, but no one ever accused him of being weak! His equipment is some of the best yet in the game, and the reward is great for those who manage to best him. The entire set includes:

The Tower Ornament of Mastery
The Tower Microlaser of Shocking
The Tower Rocket Launcher of Impact
The Tower Turbo Laser of Pure Energy
The Tower Caustic Energy Ray
The Tower Mutagenic Laser
The Tower Reinforced Armor of Deflection
The Tower Crystalline Power Plant of Cooling
The Tower Blades

Currently we’re keeping the exact specifics of new map, boss and equipment set under wraps and let the players explore how to find The Tower, work their way through the instance and finally defeat him. We hope that the high-level Auto Assault players will find it a challenge and the rewards equal to the test.

Which is not to say we’ve totally forgotten the other players as well. We’ve added a number of new instances and bosses for players Level 20 and under, one for each race: Scav Uprising (Human), The Temple of La Leche Madre (Mutant) and The Malachite Detention Center (Biomek). Players will be able to spot some powerful new bosses around the Central Wastelands as well, including the spider-like “Momma Bite” and Mammon.
