The ever popular Hitman series is one that will most likely never die. And now Square Enix's new family member Eidos are working on another adventure for Agent 47.
Eidos’ Ian Livingstone has announced that IO Interactive is working on the new Hitman game. After being questioned about the game he said, "It’s being worked on, but there’s been no announcement on the release date yet. We haven’t even announced the game yet, so everything you hear about the next Hitman game is purely speculation at this point."
Yeah, he's calling his own quote specualtion, but it does sound official in a "read between the lines" way.
It may be a while before any more news as IO are working on Mini Ninjas and Kane and Lynch 2 right now. But be prepared for more baldheaded cheesewire gossip in the coming months.

Just when you thought you couldn’t possibly get any more music based games, ActiBlizz is going to prove you wrong. Oh yes. They are going to release three more music based video games this year: “DJ Hero,” “Guitar Hero 5,” and “Band Hero.” They also have confirmed that they are working on “Guitar Hero: Van Halen.”
“DJ Hero” still doesn’t have a full set list in place, but there are some new details on the controller. It’s a single turntable with three colored buttons similar to Guitar Hero five fret buttoned guitar.
“Band Hero” is looking to be the family friendly version of “Guitar Hero” focusing more on top 40 hits. “Guitar Hero 5” will likely be a carbon copy of what you’ve already seen with new fun things like the ability to drop in and out of songs, change band members, instruments, and difficulty levels on the fly.
“Guitar Hero: Van Halen” will be out in the second half of this year. No specific tracks have been confirmed, but there will be music from guest bands including Queen, Weezer, Blink-182, The Offspring and Queens of the Stone Age. It’s also not a certainty which band members will be avatars in the game.

The single server world of serious spaceship business reaches their sixth birthday today. CCP has kept pushing themselves these six years to release two major free expansions each year and to keep integrating user feedback into the game. Over the years, there have been numerous massive fleet battles, and ever changing politics along with the changing strategies of the players themselves. This current year has been a very important one for EVE, where they set the largest concurrent user record in a MMO of 53,850 users, and hit a new record subscriber cap of 300,000 active subscribers, not including trial accounts.
Of course, let’s not forget that folks can now get the game from retailers with EVE available in a box on shelves in your favorite store, which includes 60 days of game time.
Happy birthday EVE!

The news that 3D Realms closed its doors grabbed the world by their shirt and created sever hype and dissapointment throughout the world. At the same time, Apogee came forward and announced to shacknews that "Deep Silver and Apogee Software are not affected by the situation at 3D Realms," and that "Development on the Duke Nukem Trilogy is continuing as planned."

I'm sure as you've all heard that the buzz around the gaming world online right now is that 3D Realms has finally closed their doors after 22 years. We hate to point fingers but it looks like this could possibly be because they've been in development of the most infamous Vaporware title "Duke Nukem Forever" for 12 of those years.
We're sure that a lot of you were pumped up about Duke Nukem Forever as much as we were...C'mon, they've been teasing us with footage that looked amazing for 2 years. Hell, for all we care they could have just just took Prey, threw some new textures over top of it, got the old sound effects for nostalgia and RE-RELEASED THE DAMN GAME.
But alas, after all the teasers, the trailers, and tempting...3D Realms has finally given us the old finger. We really wish we could tell you this was a joke or marketing scheme but its not. Even 3D Realms webmaster Joe Siegler has commented on this, saying "It's not a marketing thing. It's true. I have nothing further to say at this time."
More info and some underground speculation concerning the future of Duke Nukem Forever after the break
